Gas you will know, and lighting (alumbrado) too. So what is gaslighting?
It is a colloquialism (palabra coloquial), and it refers to the idea of deception (decepción) that is repeated many times, with the intention to “brainwash” (convenciendo a mortales para que hagan o crean algo) mortals.
The origin of the word comes from a 1930´s film called “Gas Lighting”. In this film a husband manipulates his wife to think that she is crazy (…haciéndole creer que está loca) by changing the level of lighting in the house. So “gaslighting” now means attempts to “brainwash”.
