“Wet” you will know as mojado. Here the focus is on two idioms using “wet”.
Consider these:
- Mr. Sanchez is “wet behind the ears”. This means he is innocent in the ways of life. In Spanish you could say ….Sanchez está verde.
- You can also “wet your whistle”, meaning that you would like a drink. I am going to wet my whistle means “voy a mojar el gaznate”. Before that you might want to “wet your lips” with a glass of bitter (cerveza armaga).
We sometimes refer to someone as a “wet fish”, a person who is “un poco soso”. Mrs. Thatcher, the British Prime Minister in the 1980´s had some “wets” (parados) in her cabinet (gabinete ministerial).
