You may have seen or heard napkin (servilleta) and serviette (again, servilleta). They could be made of cloth or paper, and are used to to protect your clothes while you eat, and to wipe your hands and lips.
Sometimes you have may seen the two words “table napkin”: they refer to the same.
However, there is an important difference between these words, between the Americans and the British.
The Americans use the word napkin, whether it be made of cloth or paper. The British use the word serviette to refer to a cloth product. However, in practical terms, both words are used interchangeably (intercambiablemente).
