Consider this sentence:

  • You cannot trust Mr. Sanchez – he is too informal.

This sentence is incorrect. “Informal” means “sin protocolo” or unceremonious.

It does not mean “incumplidor”, which means “unreliable” (indigno de confianza). “Reliable” is the opposite.

Here is the correct sentence:

  • You cannot trust Mr. Sanchez   – he is too unreliable.

Here are two examples of the use of “informal”.

  • It is an informal meeting (es una reunion informal).
  • Many people were wearing informal dress (mucha gente llevaba ropa informal).
