“Exposition” is one of those words that looks similar (una palabra en apariencia similar) to the Spanish word. However, it is different.
Look at these examples:
- Elena put on an exposition of her paintings. This sentence is wrong in its use of “exposition”.
- Elena put on an exhibition of her paintings. This sentence is correct.
“Exposition” in English means “presentación de ideas o de hechos” and it does not mean “exposición artística”.
Here are two correct examples:
- Ricardo gave an exposition of his theory at the conference (…hizo una exposición de su teoría en la conferencia).
- José, the judge, gave a brief exposition of the facts of the case (…hizo un breve exposición de los hechos…).
