Carry weight

Carry weight

“Carry” (llevar,) and “weight” (peso) you may know. First, some simple examples.

  • Horses and donkeys (burros) were not created to carry weights (…no fueron creados para llevar peso).
  • Mr. Sanchez, the Spanish Prime Minister, cannot carry a weight of 60 kilos.

Now some other uses of “carry weight”. There are similarities (semejanzas) in Spanish. Contemplate these:

  • Boris Johnson´s words carry weight (… palabras tienen peso…) across the world.
  • Lower taxes is a point that must carry weight (debe pesar en los debates…) in political discussions.
  • Mr. Sanchez´s words do not carry carry much weight in Europe.
